Sound Design for Hire
Running sound for your event can be stressful. The pressure is on and everyone is watching (and listening)! So, let me be your "Sound Guy."
From something as simple as a presentation to a musical, I am here to make your life easier. I am available for hire for any of your productions. I have 10+ years running sound for live shows ranging from complex concerts to musicals.
Musical Theatre mixing is my specialty. I have served as the sound engineer at the Richland Performing Arts Center in Johnstown, PA for 10 years and in that time have mixed hundreds of events including over 30 musicals and plays. Mixing accurately for live theatre involves complex cuing with total cues often in the hundreds and often dozens or even hundreds of sound effects. Managing all of this requires care and experience. I will meticulously design your show and work to ensure that by show time, all systems are operating smoothly! I also have expertise and much experience in mixing for rock/pop acts, orchestras, and just about all mixing styles!

Sound Training
Do you want to be trained in person at your venue? Work at a School District and would like your Technical team and/or students to be trained in audio for talent shows, concerts, and musicals? I can offer personalized training to meet your needs! This training can be customized but I recommend my Developing Audio Skills course! For $1000, I offer 5 in person training courses for your team. These can be spread out over time so that the skills can be practiced and mastered. The content of these lessons will be tailored to your space and desired learning outcomes. For example, I would recommend this sample training outline for any school program or venue hoping to train audio learning for live theatre:
Day 1: Optimizing the channel strip. Tuning for natural speech and vocals for wireless microphones.
Day 2: Mixing Live Music. Practice mixing simple vocals + Backing tracks. Can be completed with live musicians or pre-recorded samples I can provide. Focus on balance and mixing techniques.
Day 3: Mixing Live Instruments and ensemble. Practice mixing with larger groups of vocals. Learn to set up VCAs and Sub Groups to help organize your mixing. Learn to set up monitor mixes (fold back) for your performers on stage.
Day 4: Practice writing cues. Learn to set up cues based on the capabilities on your sound console. This is where the magic really starts to happen and you can create a fluid show. Learn the deeper capabilities of your console such as isolates on your cue list,
Day 5: Practice mixing and writing cues for a full pre-recorded musical sample including full vocals and a live pit recording. Review any concepts already covered. Q & A time.
